About me
–
My current role is Staff UX designer and Design Lead at Aize, a Norwegian oil & gas startup in Fornebu. I have been working closely with domain and subject matter experts to dive deep into clearly identifying problems to solve, developing hypotheses, and thinking strategically across the product. Implementing solutions in a complex software requires collaborating with designers and product owners in all parts of the company before diving into the hands-on work of wireframing, designing, and running user tests for further insights. Eliciting advise from our frontend and backend developers is necessary to understand all dimensions of a design proposal, so I find that having good relationships with developers is a critical part of developing a good feature. I recently had the luck to take Specialized Domains training through the Nielsen Norman Group to address common issues and pitfalls in a specialized domain; a highly useful course for understanding how to avoid letting your own product becoming a near nightmare with which to work.
For the last year and a half I have split my time between UX design and product owner, occasionally stepping in as a scrum master as well. This experience has given me good insight into the factors being considered when making decisions at different levels of the organization.
Outside of work, I can be found in the mountains; hiking, rock climbing, & mountaineering. Please ask me about my most recent trip and upcoming plans!
In a previous life I was a support engineer for Microsoft, having learned the IT trade in the United States Air Force.
